영어 성경 읽기 운동의 태동

The Birth of E-Bible Reading Movement 

2017년 3월 5일이었습니다. 데이비드 손 목사는 NIV 영어 성경을 펴고 창세기 1장부터 읽어 나가기 시작했습니다. 

It was March 5, 2017. Pastor David Son opened his NIV English Bible and began reading from Genesis 1. 

 

언제까지 얼마나 읽을 계획이 없었습니다. 그저 성경책을 집어 들고 읽기 시작했습니다. 창세 기부터 요한계시록까지 한 절도 빼지 않고 읽고 또 읽었습니다. 

He didn't have a plan for how long he would read. He just picked up the Bible and started reading. From Genesis to Revelation, he read and read and read, never skipping a verse. 

 

그 길로 만 3년 동안 하루도 쉬지 않고 30회 정도를 읽었습니다. 이것이 RBMB라고 하는 영 어성경읽기 운동을 일으키는 계기가 되었습니다. 

That's how he ended up reading it about 30 times in three years, without taking a day off. That's how he started a movement to read the Bible in English, called the RBMB. 

 

3년 동안 영어 성경을 소리내어 읽을 때 겪은 일입니다. 먼저 회개가 터져 나왔습니다. 성경 을 읽는 행위는 하나님과 독대하는 것입니다. 

This is what happened when he read the English Bible aloud for three years. First came an outpouring of repentance. The act of reading the Bible is sitting one-on-one with God. 

 

하나님과 일대일로 마주하고 수백 번 눈물을 쏟고, 온몸을 비틀며 오열하며 회개했습니다. 

He faced God one-on-one and repented hundreds of times, weeping and twisting his body. 

 

그리고 성령으로 충만했습니다. 가슴이 터질 듯이 에너지가 충만하고 희열이 넘쳤습니다. 믿 음이 강해졌고 믿음의 말을 담대하게 쏟아내었습니다. 

And he was filled with the Holy Spirit. His heart was bursting with energy and joy. His faith was strengthened with words of faith spitted out boldly. 

 

언제부터인가 사람들을 불러모아서 영어성경읽기 운동을 일으키기 시작했습니다. 

From that moment on, he began to gather people and started an English Bible reading movement.​
